Some love stories start with a chance encounter, but theirs began with intention—and healing.

Imani first came across Devrin during a season when he was courageously sharing his journey of emerging from a deep mental depression. As a passionate mental health advocate who was also sharing her mental health journey publicly, his honesty struck a chord in her spirit. She saw not just a man healing, but one ready to grow—and she felt drawn to his light.

So, she liked a few pictures. Just enough to get his attention, knowing full well what would happen next.

And like clockwork, Devrin slid into her DMs.

What followed was a series of FaceTime calls—vulnerable, curious, and magnetic. Before long, Devrin was on a plane from Washington, D.C., flying to meet Imani in Charlotte, NC.

Their first date? Not your typical dinner or movie. They went to one of their favorite places: a tattoo shop. Inked beginnings, symbolic of the permanent mark they were already starting to leave on each other’s lives.

The first weekend spent together, Imani took Devrin hiking, introducing him to the beauty of the land that shaped her. Nature became their sanctuary. It was on trails and under trees that their bond deepened, rooted in intentional living and shared values.

Together, they didn’t just fall in love—they built a life that inspired others. Through plant-based meals, guided meditations, and the unapologetic beauty of healthy Black love, Imani and Devrin became a reflection of what’s possible when healing meets partnership.

For three years, Devrin traveled back and forth between D.C. and Charlotte, each goodbye harder than the last—until one day, he knew he couldn’t do distance any longer. He packed up his life and moved to Charlotte, where their long-distance chapter ended and their next began.

After three years of love, growth, and showing up for each other, Devrin proposed to Imani surrounded by their friends and family.

And now, after a year and a half of planning, dreaming, and preparing for forever—they’re ready.
